Experience

Shireen has extensive experience in dealing with complex and chronic clinical cases. She places particular emphasis on understanding the broad range of factors that are involved in a patient’s unresolved pain. She believes, it is highly important to understand the patient’s story before implementing any treatment plan. Shireen is keen that every osteopathic treatment session is tailored to the patient’s individual needs. Patient-centred care is at the heart of her clinical practice.

For the last 25 years, Shireen has balanced clinical practice with teaching at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine and at the University College of Osteopathy. Her various teaching roles have included leading the osteopathic diagnosis module to being a course leader of the postgraduate MSc in Advanced Osteopathic Management.

Shireen has swapped her role as Programme Lead at BCNO Group (osteopathic university) to join the NHS as First Contact Practitioner (FCP) within EPUT (Essex Partnership University Trust). First Contact Practitioners work within GP practices and see all patients who have joint or muscle pain.

Prior to this, Shireen spent 25 years balancing clinical practice with lecturing at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine and at the University College of Osteopathy. Her roles in education varied from teaching how to examine a patient to being the course leader of postgraduate and undergraduate courses.

She developed the first award bearing postgraduate course in the profession on the specialist management of older adults. It was a course that highlighted the value of multi-disciplinary management of older adults. In her role as the head of clinic at BCOM in North London, she supported the clinical education of osteopathic and physiotherapy students on placement there.

Shireen has over the years developed a keen interest in the care of older adults. She is currently undertaking a Diploma in Geriatric Medicine to further enhance her knowledge in this field.

Shireen served as a Council Associate at the General Osteopathic Council which is the regulatory body for all UK osteopaths. This role has greatly enhanced Shireen’s understanding of public health factors in patient management.

"

Visiting Shireen always dispels the pain and tightness which accumulates in my joints and muscles as a result of my chronic movement disorder. She listens carefully, deploys a wealth of knowledge and understanding, tailors her treatment to my individual needs, and achieves extraordinary results. My life has changed for the better in her hands!

"

Shireen showed consideration and kindness towards me throughout my treatment. Her approach is holistic and this helped me to learn how to care for my back and protect it going forwards.
I'm feeling much better now and with the exercises which I continue to do I feel confident about the health of my back.

I was recommended Shireen by one of my close friends. I made an appointment to see her regarding my daughter’s knee problem. Shireen was very professional, kind and helpful in identifying the cause of the problem. After a thorough examination, she pinpointed the real cause of the pain ( which was not in the knee itself!) and provided us with series of exercises. We are going to see her again in a few weeks’ time and I have already made an appointment for myself!
I will definitely recommend lovely Shireen to my friends.
